Day -3 Otaru, Hokkaido.

Here I am in Otaru, Hokkaido after 20-hour-seacruise from Maizuru, Kyoto.

Last time I was here in 2010, I was on the way running across Japan for the first time.

3343km and 108-day trek was not that easy, but I finally made it.

I came back in Hokkaido after I ran across the US in 2011.

Feeling like as if I were back in 2010, I'm staying at a backpacker's hostel MORI-NO-KI in Otaru.

On Friday 9th, I'll be back on the road in Wakkanai, the northernmost city in Japan, heading for Kagoshima, my final destination.

Our future should be filled with HOPE and DREAMS.

That's why I keep going and running till the end of the world...

DAY 37 Taoyuan International Airport-KIX

On the morning of my return home, I packed up my tent and packed my bags.  Afterward, Kanae and I had a lively conversation about our trip, and Miyuki arrived.   We walked through the shopping district again and even Miyuki bought some souvenirs, and finally, just before 10:00 AM, Uber car arrived.  I said goodbye to everyone and headed to the airport.  With some time before departure, I wandered around the airport, reminiscing about my fun days in Taiwan and coming up with various plans for when I return to Japan.  I checked in just after 1:00 PM and boarded AirAsia flight D3778 just after 3:00 PM.  How fast! DAY 37 George Town (Malaysia)

In the morning, while it was still cool and there were few people, I strolled around Georgetown. I saw street art, visited mosques and temples, bought a tart, and returned to the hotel. As expected, being a tourist destination, there were many tourists here and there. It seems that Kuala Lumpur, Melaka, and George Town are the most popular tourist spots in Malaysia. It felt like a considerable number of tourists were flocking here not only from other Asian countries but also from Western countries. There were also many cafes and restaurants catering to tourists. Nevertheless, thanks to its tourist attractions, the city was vibrant and stimulating. As a UNESCO World Heritage site, there are buildings that exuded a sense of history, as well as many colorful houses and shops that we wouldn't see in Japan.
